Short CV
Dr. Vassili Fedotov is currently a Principal Research Fellow in the Optoelectronics Research Centre and a holder of 5-year Career Acceleration Fellowship of the UK's Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC). He also sits on the management board of the EPSRC interdisciplinary Centre for Nanostructured Photonic Metamaterials (link). Vassili graduated Lomonosov Moscow State University (Russia) in 1999 with MSc degree in physics, and received PhD degree from the University of Southampton's School of Physics and Astronomy in 2003. His research interests include exotic electromagnetic properties of metamaterials, optical manifestation of fundamental symmetry breaking (3D- and 2D-chirality), nanoscale light localization and plasmons, light-matter interaction at nanoscale, and toroidal electrodynamics. Dr. Fedotov sits on the steering committee of the annual Metamaterials Congress; he is a member of the European Physical Society, European Virtual Institute of Metamaterial Research and Nanophotonics Europe Association.
