Dr. Wenhan Zhang

Wenhan Zhang is a Research Fellow in Nanomaterials Engineering with AI at the University of Southampton in the Optoelectronics Research Centre. He entered the Department of Engineering at the University of Cambridge and obtained his MRes degree in 2021. He then continued with PhD research in the Photonic Devices and Sensors Group at Cambridge as a member of St Edmund's College, Cambridge and completed his PhD in February 2026. His doctoral research focused on electrically tunable liquid crystal metasurfaces capable of achieving full 2π phase modulation with fast response times at telecommunication wavelengths. His current research focuses on AI-assisted design and nanofabrication for nanophotonics.
