Dr. Fedotov is currently a Senior Research Fellow in the Optoelectronics
Research Centre at the University of Southampton and a holder of a 5-year EPSRC
Career Acceleration Fellowship. Since January 2005 he is also a Nanophotonics
Portfolio Project Leader on Metamaterials. Vassili was awarded an MSc in 1999 by
M.V. Lomonosov Moscow State University. Later that year he joined Southampton
University, from which he received his PhD in Laser Physics in 2003. His
doctoral thesis was entitled "Photonics of Nanoscale Structural Transitions in
Confined Gallium". His current research interests lie in the fields of
metamaterials, nanophotonics and toroidal electrodynamics.
